These red beauties thrive with minimal effort, bringing vibrant color from spring right up until frost. Unlike other roses, they’re naturally disease-resistant, so you can spend less time worrying and more time enjoying the intoxicating fragrance that fills your backyard oasis. Let Drift Roses Red Drift® transform your outdoor space into a haven of tranquility, one ruby red bloom at a time.
Each bloom starts as a soft, velvety bud, a deep ruby red that promises a vibrant show to come. As the blossom unfurls, it reveals layer upon layer of rich, ruby red petals. The center of the flower often boasts a touch lighter shade, sometimes with a surprising hint of lavender, creating a mesmerizing contrast. Throughout the summer, the blooms maintain their vivid ruby hues, although the rosy pink tones in the center may become slightly more prominent.
The edges of the leaves boast fine serrations, but don’t be fooled by their sawtooth appearance. These serrations are gentle and pose no threat, offering a soft, textured feel. As summer progresses, the vibrant lime green color of the new foliage matures to a richer, deeper green. This creates a beautiful contrast against the ruby red blooms, making them truly pop. Throughout the summer, the healthy green foliage provides a lush backdrop for the flowers, and it holds its color well into fall.
At least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily is ideal for abundant blooms. They’ll tolerate partial shade, but may flower less and produce leggier growth. Well-drained, fertile soil is best. If your native soil is heavy clay, amend it with compost or organic matter to improve drainage before planting.
Drift Roses Red Drift® are compact growers, reaching a mature size of 2-3 feet tall and wide. This makes them a versatile choice for a variety of planting locations, including borders, walkways, or even containers. When planting multiples, allow 3 feet of space between each plant to provide ample room for growth and good air circulation.
Dig a hole roughly twice as wide and deep as the root ball of your Drift Roses Red Drift®. This allows for proper root expansion and ensures the plant can establish itself securely. Loosen the soil at the bottom of the hole with a shovel or garden fork to encourage healthy root development.
Gently remove your Drift Roses Red Drift® from its container and loosen any circling roots. Position the plant in the hole so the crown (where the roots meet the stem) sits at ground level. Backfill the hole with soil, tamping it down gently to eliminate air pockets and secure the plant in place.
After planting, water your Drift Roses Red Drift® deeply to settle the soil around the roots. Aim to soak the soil thoroughly, allowing any excess water to drain away.
Apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch around the base of the plant (avoiding the stem) to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature. Refresh the mulch layer as needed throughout the season. Water regularly, especially during the first growing season and hot, dry spells. Aim to keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Check the soil moisture by sticking your finger a few inches below the surface. Water again if the soil feels dry to the touch.
Imagine evenings spent unwinding in your backyard, surrounded by the soft glow of ruby red blooms, instead of battling pests and diseases. These low-maintenance roses are a dream for busy homeowners, offering season-long color without the backbreaking work. Bring life and vibrancy to your outdoor space, by adding Drift Roses Red Drift® to your cart today and watch your garden blossom into a sanctuary of serenity and beauty.
These sun-loving roses require at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily to produce their best blooms.

While adaptable, Drift Roses Red Drift® prefer well-drained soil. If your soil is heavy clay, consider amending it with compost or organic matter for optimal drainage.
Apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch around the base of the plant (avoiding the stem) to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature. Refresh the mulch layer as needed throughout the season.
While not strictly necessary, a balanced rose fertilizer applied every 6 weeks during the growing season (spring to early summer) can encourage even more blooms.
Prune lightly in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. Remove dead, diseased, or crossed branches to maintain good air circulation and encourage bushier growth.
In colder climates, after the first frost, you can mound a layer of soil or mulch around the base of the plant for extra winter protection. Remove the mounding in spring once the danger of frost has passed.
Water your newly arrived rose generously, allowing the water to soak down to the roots. Choose a planting location as described in the “How to Plant” section.
Water your rose regularly, especially during hot and dry periods. Aim to keep the soil moist but not soggy. A light application of balanced rose fertilizer every 6 weeks during the growing season can give your rose a boost.
Established Drift Roses Red Drift® are fairly drought tolerant. Water deeply during extended dry periods, but allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Fertilizing is optional but can be done once a season in early spring to encourage blooms.
Deadheading spent blooms throughout the season will promote continuous flowering. For bushier growth and better air circulation, prune lightly in late winter or early spring before new growth appears.
No fertilizer is needed upon arrival. Focus on watering your new rose to establish a strong root system.
A light application of a balanced rose fertilizer every 6 weeks during the growing season (spring to early summer) can encourage more blooms and stronger growth. Opt for a water-soluble fertilizer for easy application and follow the recommended dosage on the product label.
Established Drift Roses Red Drift® are less reliant on fertilizer. You can choose to fertilize once a season in early spring to promote blooms, but it’s not mandatory for healthy growth.
Always water your rose well before applying fertilizer to avoid burning the roots. Opt for a slow-release fertilizer if you prefer less frequent feeding, following the application instructions on the product label. Remember, over-fertilizing can harm your rose, so “less is more” when it comes to feeding these beauties.
The ideal time to prune is in late winter or early spring, before new growth emerges. Look for signs of swelling buds on the canes.
Use sharp bypass pruners to remove dead, diseased, or damaged canes. You can also cut back healthy canes by about one-third to half their size. Make clean cuts at a 45-degree angle, just above a healthy outward-facing bud.
After pruning, remove any debris from around the base of the plant. Apply a fresh layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature. Water your rose well to encourage new growth.
